Liz Morrell holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Geography with a concentration in Urban and Regional Analysis from UNC Charlotte, and a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies education from Purdue University.

She became involved with the Charlotte Action Research Project during her tenure as a Master’s student at UNC Charlotte and has worked closely with Dr. Sorensen to develop the project over the past two and half years. Her Master’s thesis, titled Differentiated Poverty Experiences and Neighborhood Trajectory: An Intrametropolitan Comparison in Charlotte, North Carolina, was inspired by her work as a Community Liaison with CHARP in the Windy Ridge neighborhood. Before beginning a Master’s program, Liz worked as a seventh grade geography teacher and cross country coach in eastern North Carolina.

Liz is currently working with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation as a Management Analyst.
